Description

The #1 New York Times-bestselling author of Identity presents a suspenseful new novel of tragedy and trauma, love and family, and the evil that awaits.

As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smells of pine and fresh bread and Grammie’s handmade candles. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb.

Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

The kids will be staying with Grammie now in Redbud Hollow, and thanks to Thea’s vision, their parents’ killer will spend his life in supermax. Over time, Thea will make friends, build a career, find love. But that ability to see into minds and souls still lurks within her, and though Grammie calls it a gift, it feels more like a curse—because the inmate who shattered her childhood has the same ability. Thea can hear his twisted thoughts and witness his evil acts from miles away. He knows it, and hungers for vengeance. A long, silent battle will be waged between them—and eventually bring them face to face, and head to head…

Always love to curl up with a good book. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors. This book takes you through a woman’s life. Love the Kentucky setting. Did not want the book to end.

With Nora Roberts’ books one always knows what to expect to some degree; fabulous characters in a world one would love to jump into, a bit of mystery or conflict, and people who love each other who often make wonderful meals and have craft or skill the reader can learn something about. Pure escapism at its finest! While some say Ms Roberts’ books are all the same, and that she recycles storylines (which I agree with in many cases), Mind Games hooks the reader from the start. Her characters are deep and well developed and the storyline is interesting and current. Nora is not always successful at the formulaic story development but I loved this one. I’ve read almost all of her books over the last 30 years and always look forward to new releases. Most I’ve read multiple times although some I never finished (I could never get through The Villa for instance). If you’re looking for a well written novel of struggle and redemption, with some romance on top of a great family dynamic, love and of course a great cast of community characters, you’ll love this book. Mind Games has joined the list of Nora Roberts titles I’ll read again and again.

Not one of Nora’s best. Hard to get past Bray being 4 and talking like a 2 year old.
  • One of her best!

Very basic from Nora Roberts… plot is boring,no twists and turns.

If this was the FIRST time I’ve read this general story, very similar characters, etc, I would have rated it higher. But this author keeps writing the same basic novel over and over. It should be a $2.99 novel, nor $15. She just changed the names, careers, locale.
