Description

Real estate agent Jenna Meyers is in a good position to work a side job as a private investigator searching for the money stolen from a bank. On a routine visit to a potential listing, Jenna discovers a grisly scene in an abandoned home. Her first thought is Squatters. A closer look reveals the house had been used as a place of torture. A chance sighting of someone lurking in the woods nearby leaves Jenna fearful for her life.

When Sebastian McKinnon catches wind of the torture site, he vows to protect Jenna, convinced the victim tortured could have been his missing father. If the maniac conducting the torture thinks Jenna saw him, he might come after her, giving Sebastian the chance to capture him and learn the whereabouts of the Iron Horse Ranch patriarch.

Together, Sebastian and Jenna struggle to find answers and stay alive while a fire storm builds in the Crazy Mountains of Montana.

Bastian McKinnon is a Navy Seal who’s on leave to help search for his missing father. This is the fourth novel in the series that follows each McKinnon sibling as they search for their father and find their own HEA. Bastian, having loved and lost his high school sweetheart, has vowed to never love another woman. He’s grieved for over a decade...until Jenna pops back into his life. Jenna Meyers is finally free. After having divorced her abusive husband, she earned her real estate license. Jenna also works as a PI in her spare time. She was hired to investigate the whereabouts of stolen money. When a prospective buyer stands her up, she decides to investigate an old, abandoned cabin for the stolen money. What she finds, is a grizzly torture scene. Frightened, she immediately runs out of the cabin and finds more trouble. On the run, Jenna treks to the sheriff’s office. There she finds her old high school crush, Bastian. Bastian was her first love, but he loved Lauren and he was her best friend’s older brother. So, she moved on making the biggest mistake of her life. Can Bastian and Jenna find their HEA before it’s too late? Although this is the fourth novel in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Each novel slowly builds on the underlying mystery behind McKinnon’s kidnapping. This was one of my favorite novels in the series! It was intriguing, suspenseful, action-packed, and realistic. The hay loft antics were steamy and funny! I also enjoyed Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protector’s assistance in helping to solve this case. I can’t wait to read Molly’s story! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a fantastic addition to this series. It can be read as a stand-alone as the author does a wonderful job of telling the sub-plot of the series. The patriarch of the McKinnon family (James) has been kidnapped. The series is following his children as they search for him but also find their soul mates. In this story, Sebastian (Bastian) McKinnon is on leave from the Navy SEALs. It has been eleven years since he lost the love of his life Lauren. She died from injuries sustained in a car accident. Bastian blames himself as he was the driver and also wearing a seat belt but she wasn't. He made a promise to Lauren to never love another. Bastian though comes across Jenna Meyers and things soon start to heat up between them. Jenna is his younger sister's best friend but she is nothing like that young girl. The suspense and intrigue of this story just kept me on pins and needles. We get a few more clues on James McKinnon's whereabouts but the mystery continues!!! I was glued to my poor e-reader. Reading as fast as I could to see if the mystery was solved. At the same time, the sparks were flying between Bastian and Jenna making for a great love story. I adored having this book written in the dual POV format. Getting a glimpse into the characters' thoughts really help me to connect and understand them and their actions so much better. I also loved seeing the prior characters and having them actively involved in the search for their father was wonderful. There was a sexy scene in this book that while was really brief on details just may offend some readers. Because of this, I can only recommend this book to someone over the age of 18.

4.5 Stars This is book 4 in the Iron Horse Legacy series and it features Bastian McKinnon and Jenna Meyers. She’s his younger sisters best friend and she’s been in love with him since their high school days. He’d been in love with someone else but she died in a car accident before they graduated. He vowed to never love another after that. He joined the Navy, became a SEAL and never looked back. Back in Eagle Rock to look for his kidnapped father, Bastian never counted on seeing Jenna and the protective impact she would have on him. Their chemistry is sparking from the beginning. It’s like their attraction was natural and they stepped into being a couple seamlessly. Like he finally figured out that he’d been in mourning for much too long and the perfect woman was right in front of him. This is an amazing story line with equally amazing characters. I am so invested in these fabulous characters and their missing father. The clues have me on the edge of my seat! I can’t wait for the next book!

I read this book as a stand alone. I did not read any of the previous books in this series. I love best friends older brother books and this one is exactly that. Jenna has had a crush on Bastien since she was a teenager and best friends with his sister Molly. Bastien always thought of her as his little sister's pesty friend. Eleven years later, feelings have changed as life has dealt each of them a serious blow. Now they will have to work together to find out who is trying to kill her, and maybe find Bastien's missing father. Several things made this story enjoyable. First, the fact I love best friends older brother storylines. Second, this truly is a standalone book. I may go back and read the previous books, but I don't feel the need to. This story is self contained. Third, I enjoyed seeing the Brotherhood Protectors cross over into this series. It's always a pleasure to revisit them. Finally, I love the mystery. Who has kidnapped Mr. MacKinnon? Who is going after Jenna? I love a good mystery/suspense. My only complaint was the book just ended. I felt like there was no resolution. What is the next step? It just ended. Poof. Now I can't wait for Molly's book. i need to know what happens, with Molly and Parker, with Mr. MacKinnon and with Bastien and Jenna. Too many loose ends.
