For a short story, this packs a punch. As always, King does not disappoint. One thing that does disappoint is the price for this short story though.

Good story line. Easy to enjoy in an afternoon.
  • Don’t Listen To The Reviews, Even This One

This novella should be taken at face value. Don’t let your experiences with King, his work or his lore influence you. Read it as a stand alone story without judgement. You do that, you’ll find a lovely story of supernatural strangeness, a lead character to commit to, and a well crafted SHORT story. Remember the purpose of these types of pieces are not to enthrall you with rich details and fully painted worlds. It’s an in and out story easily finished in one sitting (took me less than two hours) and is a simple medium with high entertainment value. I’m about to start book two and cannot comment on the series yet, but as a novella, this story delivers exactly what is needed: a main character with enough feeling to make you root for them, a moral catch twenty-two, and a journey that battles the ability to balance greed and selflessness. Great read, really enjoyed it.
  • Excited to move on to the next two books in this series!

  • Terrible; bad writing with inaccuracies and goes against cannon

King only wrote the introduction. This book is terrible. Choppy writing, pointless story, and it goes against cannon and had horrible inaccuracies in its descriptions. Overly details, but impossible details. Such a shame.

There was a Twilight Zone episode called “Button Button” I believe. Years later it became a movie. In it a couple receive a box with a red button by a nicely dressed man. Push it and get lots of money but someone has to pay the price. This book reminds me of that episode but there’s a lot more to this box. This book is the first of three and a bit charming. I highly enjoyed it. Easy read with only 180 pages.
