  • Stunning creative achievement — literature, not sci-fi!

Jemisin’s narrative sweep and compelling world-building make this novel true literature, not a genre-defined piece of “science fiction” at all. One part Ray Bradbury, two parts Margaret Atwood.

All hype very little substance, this series reminds me of one long and boring soap opera . There’s a reason the inheritance trilogy was being sold for 10 dollars and it’s not good. I’ve should’ve went with my gut instinct and left this 3 book soap opera on the online shelf

I've read a LOT of fantasy. JK has a wonderful and unique writing style that grabs you, and is modern. This blended with truly amazing descriptive imagery of things You Can Not Believe makes for insanely fun reading. No one else has come as close to describing gods, 3 books of them in fact, that makes it just feel right. This is a must read if you aren't afraid of expanding your horizons

Beautifully written. Fascinating world of gods and mortals. Politics. Humanity. Humility. And so much more! Praise to the writer 💐🥇

Seriously? The book starts off well but suddenly it drops intrigue for sex and an obvious desire to be the next Twilight. What could have been a fascinating read is instead a sex Fantasy discarding its interesting premise for teen fiction level smut.

What can I say about this fantastic world N.K. Jemisin created in this book. She truly has ha gift! Enthralling, fascinating, suspenseful and full of gasp-worthy moments, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to go on an adventure and enter a world where gods and goddesses rule and nothing is as it seems! This was the first book I've read by this author but it is far from the last!

Please just do yourself the favor of picking up this series. It is both deeply moving and incredibly well written. I blew through these books in a week because I could. Not. Put. Them. Down.

Reading this was the most amazing journey I've had since I started reading fantasy fiction in the seventies. Everything is new. There's nothing quite like the world NK Jemisin creates here. She weaves a story that envelopes you, that pulls you in and doesn't let go until the last word is written. I really liked it. You will too.
