Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From TLC’s Sister Wives star Christine Brown Woolley, a groundbreaking and heartfelt memoir about living in a family like no other and finding the strength to leave Mormonism—and the only life she’s known—behind.

Christine Brown Woolley had always dreamed of having a picture-perfect family—beautiful children, an adoring husband, and of course, a sisterhood of wives to share him with. Raised in Utah by practicing polygamists, Christine knew her life was less than normal, but that didn’t stop her from loving the full house of her childhood any less.

Becoming Kody Brown’s third wife in 1994, Christine finally found the big, happy family she had hoped for. When TLC’s hit show Sister Wives premiered in 2010, Christine knew it was her chance to shine a light on the brighter side of polygamy—the helping hands, the lively discussions, and their unmatched devotion to each other. But the cameras also revealed a much darker truth.

Now, in this candid tell-all, Christine shares for the first time the journey that led her away from polygamy and the bold path she is carving to live apart from all she has ever known. Moving, genuine, and insightful, this is a uniquely powerful tour de force of Christine’s journey toward and beyond her time in the spotlight as a sister wife.

I loved this book and read it traveling to and from vacation. I thought I’d heard and seen it all but no. I was happily surprised and impressed by Christine’s honesty. I’ve never been happier for a total stranger than I am for Christine. Actually David, Janelle, Meri and all their kids too. If any 3 women needed to get away from 1 man (and woman), it was them!! They all deserve their happily ever after!!
  • Wonderful story of resilience and strength

I have never lived polygamy but I did have an unhappy marriage once and had do go through many of the same emotions and experiences Christine so honestly describes. Why did I stay so long? Why did I think things would change? Her story is about a woman who finds her bravery and becomes who she was always meant to be. It takes a lot of strength to decide that you are worth being fully loved, and to break out of a religious cage, and to forge a path forward. If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll love this even more.
  • Don’t waste your time or money on this book!

I kept reading hoping to see or hear something new or profound. This read like a script to me. I am so disappointed because Christine is a strong woman and that was not how this book made her look. I may not even watch this last season if it’s this boring.
  • I love the title.

I really loved her side of things. Kody was unbelievable to her and her emotions. Her strength is so inspiring and full of confidence with courage to make a new chapter in her story. Living well is the best part of her story. She now has Joy.♥️

I had almost no expectations about the book, it could go either way. I knew after the first page, this was different. It’s wonderful and to describe it would be difficult. I can only say, so much said and the perfect things were respectfully unsaid

Such a journey to end up with the fairytale ending. I think Christine was kind and held back on sharing some insight into much of what the viewers of Sister Wives saw but, she was incredibly generous in allowing us to peek behind the curtains and see her journey. You are brave - you are a maverick. Go be great Christine Wooley! 💜💜💜

At first I was thinking, why write a book and tell mostly stuff that had been shown on the series. Then I realized I was not being told the same thing as the tv show, I was being told the emotions behind what we seen in the show. I do think that you gave WAY to much grace to Robyn and WAY WAY to much grace to Cody.

Christine, your story is apart of me. I’ve watched you and your family for so long, I feel like we are acquainted. I admire you. I cherish your spirit. And I am so hopeful for your future. Your bravery is renowned. You’ve inspired me to leave my abusive marriage. I’m fearful and in the beginning stages of the transition, but you helped me have the strength. Always remember, even when the tears have passed you by, you have helped people handle the worst of circumstances, and you’ve given them the hope to find themselves. This is all advise you cannot get for free. I’m grateful for your story, your book was breathtaking. I wish you all the best. Love from New Orleans, LA. You are my hero!
