Description

Welcome to Fort Lauderdale… where the days are hot and the Knights are hotter!

Slava:
From the first moment I laid eyes on Zoe in that Paris nightclub I knew it was love. Nothing else could explain the intensity I felt for the petite blond. She wasn’t my usual type, but she didn’t even blink at my scars, muscles, and voracious sexual appetite. A big, burly hockey player, brought to my knees by a woman a fraction my size.

Everything was going great. Until I asked her to marry me. The only way we can be together is if we get married, but she won’t even consider it. She’s everything to me, but I may lose her forever.

Zoe:
When my ex-fiance left me at the altar, I was devastated. It took nearly three years for me to get over it and I vowed I’d never let anyone get that close again. Then I met Slava and realized I’d never truly been in love before. He’s everything a man should be—strong, sexy, successful, and tender. But I can’t marry him, so I did the only thing I could: I let him go.

But when his world is turned upside-down and Slava needs me, I have to be there for him. And this time, I can’t let him down—no matter the cost.

I’m 50% Russian so I was excited for this character and since the Petrovs are generally nice characters with the exception of the over blown FSB/KGB stereotype. What got under my skin the most is the multiple references to “cold Russians”, long lines for food, and the lack of maternal love. It was at that moment that I decided the author must not know any fresh immigrant Russians. Those stereotypes belong pre 1991 with the USSR. Moscow is a modern city and Russians are welcoming to strangers and especially loving to family and children. Despite those unnecessary political plot lines I enjoyed how loving and generous she made Slava out to be. Love the Alaska line, the Vegas line and this one as well
