Description

The truth could cost her everything....

Olivia Mott didn't intend to lie. Somehow, it just happened. And wasn't it all Lady Charlotte's fault anyway?

Now Olivia's position as assistant chef at Pullman's elegant Hotel Florence is dependant upon her keeping her secrets. And sometimes lies have a way of leading to other lies. Should Olivia admit her real past and accept the consequences or keep quiet in order to preserve her comfortable new circumstances?

Deception seems to be part of everyday life in the company town of Pullman, Illinois, where the grand Pullman Palace Car is manufactured. Samuel Howard, Olivia's friend and the town manager, seems to think everything is fine, but Olivia observes something quite different. Could it be that Olivia is not the only one harboring secrets?

  • Even a series book wraps up some plot points

I KNOW I wasn't done with all the chapters listed in my book when I was told this book no longer belongs to me. What gives? I can't even access it to see if I did read all the chapters. If the plan is to leave chapters listed that one cannot read, while bringing the story to a screeching halt with no warning whatsoever ever, then this series is NOT for me. I understand carrying certain plot points and storylines all through a series, but even a series book closes some holes while opening others, when moving into the next book. Re-instate my book so I can finish it, and I will change my star rating.

I found this book great! I couldn't put it down. Though it was really slow...I always had questions that kept me pressing on. I finished the book and its definitely unfinished. So many questions!?! What about that business card? Why would she need a lawyer? Where the heck did Lady Charlotte go? Did we really see the end of Eddie? Is Fred ever going to forgive her? Will Mr.Howard ever realize she isn't interested in him? All these questions and she leaves you hanging like that. Very disappointed. I mean I felt the book dragged out more than it should of but, oh well. Ha ha... It's a series!!! I didn't know that. XD

The author created a container in which several possibilities might evolve. She also managed to maintain the reader's interest in speculating which outcome might eventuate. Well written, promoting healthy morals and good Christian values. A delight to read.

I loved the interesting time and place of the story. It was a warm story with wonderful characters. It was hard to put down and then right when it should all come together it ended. Why did Mr. Harrison's face go pale at the sight of the business card? Did she go where she was told to go? What happened there? Did she find a way to get Mr. Harrison to leave her alone? And those were the more minor questions that didn't get answered, I don't want to give too much away by asking the big one.
