Description

There are few things my workaholic god of a boss Roman Cutler enjoys more than making my life miserable, and one is just out of his reach, thanks to his dear, sweet mom—firing me.

What's worse than losing the files to your boss's pet project?
Finding out your ex-best friend is marrying your ex-boyfriend.

Single and unemployed is not how I'd expected to spend the holidays, so I stick around the office in a sea of tissues and self regret.

But when an unlikely turn of events leads to my boss's interest in securing an insta-fiancé, it turns out he still has a use for me.

That's right—my tall, muscular, obnoxiously sexy boss asked me to marry him.

Now, I'm fake engaged to one of the world's most eligible bachelors, showing up in supermarket tabloids and at premiere restaurants. It's a match made in desperation, but I can't deny it's genius, and thanks to this fiasco, I don't look like such a loser to my exes.

He's smooth as fine wine as I bumble for the cameras. I offer an endless stream of apologies, but it turns out my carelessness plays straight into Roman's plan.

But as calculating as he is, neither of us could have foreseen the consequences of our coupling—what happens when fake feelings turn real?

Everyone knows Roman and Melidy "like" each other. But they're in denial. They need each other's help, but for different reasons. The problem with fake holiday engagements? Someone is going to cross the line.

Melody is Roman’s beautiful but klutzy assistant who is a hot mess in the office but his mother likes Melody so he can’t fire her from the family business. Roman, 31, runs the family business that builds resorts and wants to buy some property but the seller wants someone with a strong sense of family. Roman is the oldest child in the family business and is a workaholic and demanding boss who is not looking for a wife or relationship but he is attracted to Melody and she gets under his skin. Melody had a bad childhood and fears poverty and abandonment and broke up with her ex when he cheated on her with her best friend. Roman suggests to Melody that they pretend to be engaged so that they can present a family oriented couple to the seller and he offers her an opportunity to make her ex jealous as well as a bonus, promotion and a transfer for her help. Will their fake relationship shift into something else when they spend time together away from work? I absolutely loved this story with the hot mess assistant and the grumpy boss who was running the family business. Roman was very close to his family and was working hard running the family business. He was attracted to Melody and he is gruff to her to keep her from getting under his skin and becoming a major distraction. Melody is still reeling from a bad childhood and then the betrayal of her best friend and ex boyfriend. It was fun seeing these two come together and see if they could have a future together. The epilogue was a great ending for the their story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
