For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him The Fittest (Real) Man in America.

In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40% of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.

I started this book right when I started working out again for the first time in over 10 years, after having kids. I’ve been more motivated than ever to continue to push my own limits and be the best person I can be for my wife, my kids, my job, and myself. David, you are truly an inspiration and I can’t thank you enough for taking your time to tell me your life story through this book. Until the next one. 💪🏾

I like the intent of the book but I didn’t understand why having a vagina was seen asa weakness.

I have recently started reading biographies, I saw this book on the shelf and knew I had to indulge. This book does a phenomenal job of jump starting that idle portion of your brain that wants to change. It is by no means an "instant fix" but requires delicate pondering and understanding to realize that the only person with the reigns of your life is you. I believe that this book holds promise for anyone and everyone, no matter where you are on your journey. If this book taught me anything, it's never a competition between you or anyone else. It's a lifelong battle with you and yourself.

  • Self help or psychological case study?

A good read if it’s read like a psychological case study rather than a self-help book of any kind. I completely disagree with the “pick yourself up by the bootstraps” mentality. Suggests you abandon joy and what it means to be human. Aggressive tone and difficult to read. There are many ways to overcome adversity. This is certainly one of those ways, but by no means is it the one that leads to compassion or kindness towards yourself and others.
