NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • 125 recipes for grain-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free comfort food dishes for holidays and special occasions

NAMED ONE OF THE FIVE BEST GLUTEN-FREE COOKBOOKS OF ALL TIME BY MINDBODYGREEN

When people adopt a new diet for health or personal reasons, they worry most about the parties, holidays, and events with strong food traditions, fearing their fond memories will be lost along with the newly eliminated food groups. After suffering for years with a debilitating autoimmune disease and missing many of these special occasions herself, Danielle Walker has revived the joy that cooking for holidays can bring in Danielle Walker's Against All Grain Celebrations, a collection of recipes and menus for twelve special occasions throughout the year.

Featuring a variety of birthday cakes, finger foods to serve at a baby or bridal shower, and re-creations of backyard barbecue standards like peach cobbler and corn bread, Danielle includes all of the classics. There’s a full Thanksgiving spread—complete with turkey and stuffing, creamy green bean casserole, and pies—and menus for Christmas dinner; a New Year's Eve cocktail party and Easter brunch are covered, along with suggestions for beverages and cocktails and the all-important desserts. Recipes can be mixed and matched among the various occasions, and many of the dishes are simple enough for everyday cooking. Stunning full-color photographs of every dish make browsing the pages as delightful as cooking the recipes, and beautiful party images provide approachable and creative entertaining ideas.

Making recipes using unfamiliar ingredients can cause anxiety, and while trying a new menu on a regular weeknight leaves some room for error, the meal simply cannot fail when you have a table full of guests celebrating a special occasion. Danielle has transformed her most cherished family traditions into trustworthy recipes you can feel confident serving, whether you’re hosting a special guest with food allergies, or cooking for a crowd of regular grain-eaters.

Her books are beautifully done and wonderful recipies with great photos...with that being said I have to say it drives me crazy when you have a nice cookbook that obviously the person spent a lot of time doing AND then to NOT include the macros for each recipe. I swore I would not buy another cookbook without, however when looking at the "previews" they don't always show an actual recipe so then your stuck trying to decide weather to send it back....I've decided to keep this one but that's it unless I can see a whole recipe in a book

Danielle Walker's latest book is full of great tasting recepies and beautiful photos. For those who are new to the gluten-free, Paleo, grain and dairy free diets, you will be very pleased with this cookbook. From buffalo wings for football season, to carrot cake for Easter, these recipes are sure to satisfy food lovers of all ages. Danielle's recipes are arranged by occasion. There is also a very handy index at the end of the book which allows you to look up recipes by their name or specific ingredient. The book also includes helpful tips for those new to the gluten-free, Paleo, or grain free lifestyle. It includes handy measurement conversion charts, ingredient resources and tips on hosting any occasion with ease and confidence. Cooking and baking from Danielle's newest book has been great! My family and friends who have enjoyed the recent recipes raved about how great they taste and I did not even need to specify that they were gluten-free or Paleo. Danielle does a wonderful job of re-creating holiday recipes for all to enjoy. They are delicious and have wholesome ingredients. So once you get your hands on this book get to cooking and happy eating!

I was lucky to receive an early copy, so I've been cooking from this book for about 2 weeks, and it's a MUST HAVE. This book is not only for those who have allergies, or follow GF diet, every recipe I have made so far has been delicious, and my family (with 0 diet restrictions) has loved each one so far. My favorite has been the "corn" bread. It's moist, has amazing texture, and I have been repurposing it for other recipes as well. I have already made it 3 times because it's so delicious and easy to make. We've made the blackened salmon with stone fruit salsa, and with chicken, and it was so flavorful. I love how easy the recipes can be for weeknight dinners. As long as you're prepped with the ingredients, actually making most of these recipes have been a breeze. I've really loved two things about this book in particular: the tidbits, and hints to make cooking easier, or prepping ahead of time. And her breakdown of ingredients at the beginning of the book that really help with the brands she recommends. Learning about GF baking (almond flour vs meal, almonds vs cashews, etc) can be overwhelming, but she really explains each ingredient! I really can't stress how diverse this book is from desserts, to meat, to sides, and beverages, I love that it has the full range of meals. I think the innovation behind recipes for each Holiday really resonated with me. I found out I have Celiac Disease only three years ago, and have felt very left out at Holidays and have missed the common food at these holidays. But so many classics are now available to me, and not only do they bring back those memories of the original, but I KNOW EXACTLY what I'm eating now. No chemicals and processed cans, just clean, natural foods that I can enjoy with my family! Definitely a must-buy for those with and without allergies in your life! I really think this would be such a cute gift for any Holiday!

What a wonderful addition to the Against All Grain collection. It is filled with eye catching photos and wonderful recipes for all occasions. What I love about this book: Menu by occasion. Recipe index by course Tidbits for each recipe that include how far in advance you can make each item. If you can freeze and for how long. Substitutions. Dietary information for each recipe in the index. If you own any of the other books, you know Danielle's recipes are legit! This one doesn't disappoint. I love the blta burger, and Cabernet braised short ribs. They even reheat well! Definitely a must have for your cookbook collection!
  • Yum! More Delicious Recipes from Against All Grain

Pies, cakes, burgers with special sauce, sun butter buckeyes, fudge, potato salad, lemon bars are just a few of the amazing recipes in the Celebrations Cookbook. Without Danielle’s amazing cookbooks I would not have been able to successfully transition from eating foods that were making me sick to following the Paleo diet for nearly 3 years now. Celebrations adds in even more delicious options to my menu. For the last few years I have made brownies with chocolate ganache with strawberries on top from he two prior cookbooks as my birthday cake– Yum! In Celebrations there are many more birthday cake and frosting options which I can’t wait to try. So far I have made several recipes and they didn’t disappoint. First I made the lemon bars. The filling on top is a very custard-like texture. They are both a mixture of sweet and tart. I’ve been craving more after my family ate them all up. I also tried the sunbutter spider cookies. I missed the taste of my mom’s homemade peanut butter cookies. I was so happy when I tasted these. They had the same texture and a touch of that peanut butter flavor I have been missing. The kids loved them. They didn’t last long. I wanted something savory after all the tasty sweets. I made the potato salad and some of the special sauce recipe that comes with the BLTA burgers recipe. I served it to my family who are not always fans of my “healthy” food. Several came back for seconds on the potato salad so you know it had to be good. I’ve been adding the special sauce to every burger. It reminds me a little of thousand island dressing. I’ve also made the sunbutter buckeyes. My mom always made lots of sweets around Christmas including buckeyes and fudge. Last Christmas I saw the plate of buckeyes and wanted to eat them so badly, but I knew I would feel terrible if I did. This year I can indulge in these and not miss out. I think they would be great with almond butter as well if you can tolerate nuts. I loved that I could have the great peanut-buttery chocolate taste and not feel terrible afterwards. I can’t wait to continue trying more recipes and adding them to the menu! Thank you Danielle for this amazing book!
