Fantastic!!! So much history of the Heartbreakers and Tom Petty. Beautifully written without any sugar coating. Mike Campbell should write more as he has a gift of capturing the sentiment and the facts so clearly and succinctly.

This book confirms my life long argument, no disrespect to Tom, that there would have been no Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers without Mike Campbell‘s totally unselfish and masterfully crafted guitar work. Mike Campbell’s story is very compelling, with early struggles, great stories and successes. A young man struggles to find his way as he suffers for his art. A new classic has been added to the cannon of Rock n Roll.

I really liked this book. He goes into great interesting detail on his musical life with Tom Petty. He’s honest about himself, the music and the legacy of the wonderful songs he wrote with TP. Their music will last thru the ages…Timeless

One of my favorite reads in many years. It helps to have been a major fan of many of the musicians Mike mentions and to still love many of the songs he is a part of, but the storytelling style of Heartbreaker is what makes this book so great. It’s like Mike is sitting with one of his guitars talking to you. If you even kind of think this book might be worth reading, get it.

One of the best rock books I’ve ever read. I didn’t want it to end

I knew some of Mike’s story before reading his book, but this went to the next level. It made me laugh out loud and it brought tears to my eyes. It’s really a great story about a guitar player and his journey. It’s about Mike’s life and the Heartbreaker’s history. It was very well done and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone with an interest in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Thanks for telling your story Mike.
