  • Great Story but….

    2
    By Ashes to Ashes 2989
Great story but the author’s criticism of J.K. Rowling for her controversial views on transgender issues is undeniably impassioned. However, in asserting that Rowling should ‘be shunned until she disappears into the ether,’ the author is engaging in the very behavior they criticize—shutting down opposing viewpoints rather than engaging with them constructively. This creates an unsettling irony in which the condemnation of intolerance is accompanied by an act of exclusion. Such an approach risks undermining the argument by replicating the same divisive dynamics the author seeks to challenge.

The first book of this series was beautiful and heartwarming. This second was cheesy relying on cliches and worn out parallels. The storyline was not particularly exciting and the solutions to the problems at hand were not well thought out. I just expected a lot more.
  • Emotionally charged, as always

Klune once again nails brilliantly thought out character development, layering them in such a charming, loving, and impossible-not-to-like kind of way. This is a very well done and well thought out follow up to an already wonderful setting, and it provides more context to the characters we all grew to love - and understand - from Cerulean Sea. All bundled up with plenty of feels and impactful messages all should hear.

This is my biggest pick of the year. Hands down. This book is SO poignant and even more beautiful. I laughed, a lot. I cried happy tears, a lot. I’m not a crier, so that’s really saying something. I inhaled this book. I couldn’t stop reading. Read this book with some tissues and an understanding that anyone who can see or hear you are going to think you’re crazy (and that’s okay)! It’s absolutely worth it.
