I am so sad that this tale is over - for now. I wish to have more. I stayed at the edge for the entire series. I recommend this to everyone! Please Mrs. Hobb continue writing and give us tales from the Seven Duchies.

The book out of all the Fitz and Fool trilogies is, perhaps, my least favorite. Still, though, it's a good book, and worthy of being the end of Fitz's and the Fool's end-tale. However, I must say the end of the book, and Fitz and Fool's lives, could have been executed better. It all felt like the last pages were rushed through, like it should have taken just a little more time, drawn-out, instead of cramming it in. It all just happened so fast. And if you read any of the previous books, you know that Hobb swapped back and forth from Fitz's perspective to Bee's. It annoyed me that Ms. Hobb ended Fitz's story from Bee's perspective. I wished to read it from Fitz's point of view, his thought's, experience it through him. Instead, I watched it through his daughter's eyes. All this combined left me lacking a feeling of full closure on the character Fitz.
  • Amazing!

A very satisfying ending to the tale of Fitz and the Fool. It took a little too long to get there, but worth the extra effort.
  • A fitting finale.

What a fantastic end to a fantastical tale! I've been reading Fitz Chivalry and the Fool's tales for many years. Never did I think the end of their journey would stir such emotion in me. This book wraps up all three of Hobb's most popular stories in one neat package: Fitz's story, the Liveships saga and the tale of the Dragons of Kelsingra are all touched upon and brought together here, in a gripping tale of love and loss. This book was the first I've ever read that had me literally sobbing towards the end as if I had personally been a part of the trials and tribulations written within. The last five percent of the book in particular awoke such a whirlwind of emotion in me - laughter, tears, fulfillment, enjoyment, and yearning - that I doubt I will ever again be so sated from a book as I am after reading this masterpiece. Kudos, Robin - you have truly outdone yourself.
